The artwork is named after the infamous Wu Zetian, the de facto ruler of the Tang dynasty in China from 665 to 705. Wu Zetian was a groundbreaking figure in Chinese history, being the only female sovereign widely regarded as legitimate. Under her reign, China experienced significant growth and revitalization.
