Today’s #wcw❤️ we are featuring legendary Japanese contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama!
The master artist celebrated her 93rd birthday yesterday and continues to create innovative, avant-garde art in an array of multi-disciplinary mediums.
Much of Yayoi’s work is bold, bright, and polka dotted which was influenced by hallucinations as a young child that left her seeing endless dots.
By adding all-over marks and dots to her paintings, drawings, objects and clothes she feels as if she is making them (and herself) melt into, and become part of, the bigger universe.
Today, not only do various museums around the world display Yayoi’s work, but also her unique and spacey wonderlands called “Infinity Rooms” have become an Instagramable sensation #YayoiKusama #InfiniteKusama
Yayoi is acknowledged as one of the most important living artists to come out of Japan.
