Artist Spotlight | Jedd Novatt
Internationally acclaimed Contemporary Artist, Jedd Novatt has a visual language that defines his signatory linear aesthetic; an interpretation of factual environmental apexes manifested through lines, angles, and vertices that engage negative space against positive. The artworks theoretically propel themselves through the firmaments of space, carried by the dynamic spatial vibrations found within the arrangements. The momentum is purposefully and perfectly contrasted and even constrained with his choice of rigid and weighted materiality.
Following the success of Jedd Novatt's solo exhibition at PAMM, on view now through June 26, 2022, Burgess Modern + Contemporary presents the opportunity to collect important sculptural works, monotypes, and historical works from the artist's archive.
Jedd Novatt was born in New York City in 1958. After graduating from Sarah Lawrence College in 1980, Novatt went to live in France and Italy before returning to NYC to briefly attend Columbia University's MFA program where he was awarded a fellowship. Novatt then took his first studio in downtown Manhattan and remained working in Manhattan for over 20 years. In 2002 Novatt and his family moved to Paris where he continues to reside and has studios in Paris, the south of France and in the Basque region of Spain.
Novatt’s work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in the United States, Europe, and Asia, and is held in major public, private, and corporate collections worldwide.
